Weekend Table Talk: All Porn Edition

Psych! Sorry about that misleading title up there, but you probably got more excited to read this blog than ever before.

Last week, the Alberta election likely dominated all your girl talk. This week, let comics and such take over. Longbox of Awesome is here to help get your pillow talk going. First up…

The Avengers isn’t out yet…

But the porn industry already has a parody in the works. And it looks hilarious. It even has a couple of guest heroes who aren’t likely in the non-porn Avengers – She-Hulk (who, in a stroke of genius casting, is played by former wrestler Chyna) and Spider-Man. Avengers XXX: A Porn Parody will be up on Vivid’s website a few days before the one where you don’t see Loki’s dong – uh, May 1st.

The Calgary Comic Expo is this weekend

And holy crap there is a ton of people for you to be awkwardly speechless around, including the legendary Stan Lee, the main cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the gingers that played the Weasly twins, Wakka’s voice actor from Final Fantasy X and Merle from The Walking Dead.

Popeye is returning to comics

The last time Popeye made his way onto a Longbox of Awesome post, he was in Wilco’s video for “Dawned on Me.” Well, now he’s available in comic-book form, where he started. The new books have a pretty killer crew working on it, so expect charming, nostalgic results.

Chris Roberson left DC

You know the dude who wrote iZombie and a couple of Fables spin-offs starring Cinderella? Well, he quit DC after some “ethical concerns,” which is a nice way of saying he thought Before Watchmen was horse shit. You can read an interview with the brilliant writer over at The Comics Journal.

Everyone likes The Walking Dead videogame so far

The first episode of the Walking Dead videogame, called A New Day, is out, and lots of people like it. You probably will, too, but it likely won’t be what you expect. Think less Left 4 Dead, more Heavy Rain. Oh, speaking of Robert Kirkman…

Guarding the Globe is coming back in September

Have you been fiending for some sweet Brit action? Maybe some more Kaboomerang? Well, fiend for a little while longer, since you have to wait until September for the series to start up again. But when it does, there will be a new creative team in charge of it, so expect more awesome ass-kicking.

The comic-book embodiment of every Australian cliche ever.

For all you ADD-addled readers, Robot Chicken is doing a DC Comics special

And it stars the awesome people who always show up on the show – you know, Nathan Fillion and Breckin Meyer. Megan Fox and Alfred Molina will also be in it, according to Comic Book Resources. If it’s half as funny as the Star Wars specials, it’ll be worth checking out.

Disney has unveiled the teaser poster for Wreck-It Ralph

Which, if you were wondering, is a Disney movie about an 8-bit videogame bad guy who sneaks into another game and unleashes a deadly enemy. Check it out:

One time, Wolverine met Freddie Mercury

Well, not quite. But the idea was floating around in someone’s noggin. io9, via Steve Bunche’s blog, has unveiled a comic all-star hopeful’s 1990 submission to Marvel, wherein Wolverine runs into Freddie Mercury in the jungle or something. I’m sure it made sense at the time, as Freddie Mercury was nearing the last year of his life, and fans just wanted to do right by him. Because they are tinfoil-hat crazy.

Yes, someone actually thought this was a good idea.
